That someday when I quit my job to take my family traveling for a year…
…that someday when I travel like I did 20 years ago while studying and backpacking in Europe…
…that someday is now! Call it what you want; a sabbatical, mini-retirement, extended vacation, mid-life crisis… whatever you call it – we’re doing it. My wife and I quit our jobs, rented out the house, sold the car, sold or gave away most of our stuff. We packed up the kids and hit the road; from suburbia to global nomads. I can’t believe we didn’t do it sooner.
We didn’t win the lottery and we’re not wealthy, but why wait until retirement to take a trip like this? We want to do it now with our kids, show them the world. This website and blog is our story as it unfolds. I hope you find something interesting here.
Our trip so far:
- Guinea – Conakry (3 months)
- Morocco – Casablanca, Fes, Marrakesh (2 weeks)
- Spain – Malaga, Gaucin, Ronda, Grenada, Madrid (2.5 months)
- France – Paris (2 weeks)
- Peru – Lima, Cusco, Iquitos (3 months)
Next up: Drive about in the USA (3 months)
– Maker
Update May 2013 – Ok, I’ve been having so much fun I haven’t been writing…will try to do better. We are currently in Lima, Peru. Amazing country!
